These four artists answered my call and produced masterpieces…
One of the most rewarding parts of The Mother’s Smile Experience was watching other artists connect with the story and translate it into their own visual language. Each of these pieces captures something different about Kojo’s journey—his relationship with his mother, his connection to music, his creative struggles. It’s fascinating to see how the same story can inspire such diverse artistic interpretations.
Honestly, i wish I could claim at least some credit for the creation of these, but I had no hand in them. All I did was to give the artists the synopsis of Mother’s Smile, some unfinished stills, and the theme; our modern Picassos did the rest…

Harmony Beyond Farewell: A Mother’s Melody portrays a poignant scene of a mother and son on a black canvas.
The tear streaks, diverging on opposite sides, symbolise the emotional journey of love and loss.
African patterns weave through the background, representing cultural roots, while musical notes surround them, reflecting the son’s passion.
The composition captures the resilience born from the transformative power of music and the enduring connection between the two, even as they face the inevitable farewell.

This is a piece based on the film “Mother’s Smile” directed by Koby Cole.
This art piece serves as a connection between music and memories.
The calmness of the environment gives the pianist time to play tunes that remind them of the memories they shared with their mother.
The symbol around the borders is the Adinkra Symbol, “Akoko nan tiaba,” which signifies the protective, corrective, and loving nature of mothers for their children.
This ties the message of the piece together, giving the observer of the piece a visual synopsis of the film.

Influenced by Koby Cole’s film “Mother’s Smile,” this artwork delves into the relationship
between Kojo (the protagonist), his mother, and music.
“Strings of love” depicts a visual narrative that symbolizes the profound relationship between a mother and son intertwined with the enchanting power of music.
The artwork showcases an illustration of Kojo’s guitar, while at the base lies another poignant illustration of his late mother gracefully dancing.
This illustration showcases a flat depiction of a guitar alongside an illustration of Kojo’s mother dancing elegantly in attire inspired by the vibrant patterns of the kente cloth, with musical notes floating around the guitar.
In creating this artwork, JesuisJemima’s intention is to portray the intimate musical bond shared between Kojo and his late mother; emphasizing the profound connection they had through music

In this evocative artwork, a captivating scene unfolds at the beach.
A dark-skinned boy sits cross-legged, his guitar cradled in his hands, as the gentle waves caress the shore.
Above him, the night sky becomes a canvas for floating pieces of paper, adorned with heartfelt words and profound thoughts.
This artwork serves as an ode to the film screening; exploring the theme of Kojo’s creative block and his mother’s persistent encouragement.
It captures the boy’s introspective moments, contemplating his love for writing and playing music. Amidst the swirling papers and the soothing ambience of the beach, he is reminded of the joy he once found in creative expression.
